The content of the sessions depends on the group. We have been doing some successful Healthy Tucker Trials with some youth groups, and have got some Cookery for One sessions planned for an Older Peoples group.

If you would like to arrange for some Food4U workshops at your community group then please contact the Healthier Communities Team:

Grow it, Cook it, Eat it

Grow it, Cook it, Eat it is a vegetable growing programme that is delivered by selected primary schools and funded through Choosing Health.

The funding covers the cost of setting up school allotments and maintaining them throughout the year. The children are involved in all aspects from building and planting to harvesting and cooking.

This project aims to help children understand the cycle from plant to plate in greater detail, and develop a taste for fresh vegetables at a young age.

We are currently funding 4 primary schools in the borough.

Food for Thought

The recently launched Food4Thought project is taking shape and moving swiftly towards the exciting ‘planting and growing’ stage! The project is based at Pepenbury in Pembury, and is a partnership with Sherwood Park School, Oakley School, Little Forest Children’s Centre, Kent High Weald Partnership and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council. Food growing plots are being established for the community at both schools and at Pepenbury, promoting healthy eating, healthy lifestyle and providing an outdoor space for physical exercise.

All three sites are actively seeking volunteers at present to help maintain the allotment areas. If you have a few hours a week to spare and fancy helping us out, please call Amanda Sheer on 01892 822168 for further details.
