Walking is an affordable, enjoyable and easy exercise that everyone can do, no matter what your age, fitness level or lifestyle.
Did you know that for every minute you walk between 1 and a half and two minutes is added to your life - a return rate of almost 2:1, or that it builds strong bones and toned muscles? It can help to control weight, relieve stress and anxiety and reduce the risk of a wide range of illnesses. Walking can also be great fun and an excellent way to make new friends.
Sevenoaks District is a great place to enjoy a range of walks. The District Council with the help of partners has set up some health walks in different areas to help improve the health of residents in the area. All walks have two leaders, one at the front and one at the back, to encourage people to walk at their own pace. At least one walk leader on all walks set up by the District Council is trained by the Walking for Health Initiative. The walks are about one to one and a half miles long and last no longer than an hour.
