URGENT UPDATE, JUNE 2010 -
As part of Government savings in order to reduce the national deficit, the national free swimming scheme for under 16s and over 60s (previously provided by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport) is being discontinued, it has been announced.

The national scheme does not end until 31st July 2010, which will mean no free swimming in West Kent from this date (i.e. Gravesend and Northfleet).
However, some areas in East Kent receive funding for free swimming from NHS Eastern and Coastal Kent.
Before going swimming, please telephone your local leisure centre regarding the current availability of free swimming, as some leisure centres may no longer be offering this service.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
If your locality is not listed as being part of the scheme, you can always ring your local leisure centre to find out what other offers they have for swimming programmes.

Swimfit
Swimfit, supported by British Gas, is an online club that provides a gym-style programme for the pool. The programme helps to motivate swimmers, increases participation, and allows swimmers to gain valuable knowledge to improve their swimming.
Swimfit is designed to cater for all swimming ability levels and is separated into four sections depending on the user's motivations for swimming; Health, Shape Up and Tone, Fitness and Competitive.
